Hailing from the vibrant musical hub of Oakland, California, Ané Watts is a powerhouse vocalist whose musical journey is deeply rooted in her family's Mississippi Delta heritage. Growing up in a household steeped in gospel, blues, and jazz, Ané's DNA resonates with the soulful melodies and rhythms that define her unique sound.
Ané's artistic path began in the world of acting, gracing stages with her presence in musical productions at esteemed theaters such as Celebration Arts, Sacramento Black Repertory Theater, and California Musical Theatre Company. As a sought-after studio musician, she lent her vocal talents to support numerous local artists, enriching the vibrant music scene of her community.
Prepared with a master’s degree in arts administration, Ané found her calling as an arts coordinator and mentor at Natomas Charter Performing & Fine Arts Academy. Despite her success, she felt a longing for deeper musical fulfillment, especially in the wake of personal tragedies.
In 2009, Ané took a bold step forward, founding The BluSoul Band as an outlet for her emotions and creative expression. Her 2011 debut studio album, featuring the hit single "Love Done Found Me," captivated audiences with its raw emotion and infectious rhythm. Tracks like "Big Ol’ Cadillac" and "Goin’ to Memphis" further solidified Ané's place as a rising star in the blues scene. The BluSoul Band gained popularity, becoming prominent at numerous renowned venues and exclusive private events.
By 2023, Ané had evolved into the driving force behind Ané Watts and BluSoul, assembling a stellar lineup of musicians to craft a sound that was uniquely hers. BluSoul is bassist Connor Walker, keyboardist Mike Ferreira, and drummer Daniel Watts, BluSoul's blend of soul, blues, and jazz, captivates audiences with every performance
